Anyone got a generator mounted in the storage compartment of their 5th wheel? If so, how do you like it compared to a portable one? Thanks.

I'm new to the RV life.  This is my first unit and I'm living in it.  I've thought about the same thing that you are talking about.  I spoke with a gentleman that is now using a Class A motorhome.  He told me that he had mounted a reciever hitch to his 5th Wheel Trailer and had one of those platforms like they use for luggage/etc on it and a generator set up on that for when he drycamped or lost electrical power.  Not sure, but sounds like a good idea to me.  Plan to do some camping in some areas without hookups.  I'm trying to find me a generator that I can pick up and mount on the back of this trailer.

Personally, I don't think mounting a generator in one of the storage compartments would be too good.  I'd be a little concerned about the noise and the possiblillity of exhaust fumes possibly coming into the trailer.  I'm think if that generator is on a carrier, that it could be removed and put a few yards away from the trailer.

Just my thoughts on it.
